Most impacts from Zeta including heavy rain and high winds are finished as of Wednesday night.

Zeta's center will move over Mississippi and Alabama late Wednesday night as it weakens to a tropical storm. Late Wednesday night, it was moving north-northeast at a very quick 31 mph.

The storm made landfall near Cocodrie in Terrebonne Parish around 4:15 Wednesday as a strong Category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 110 mph. There are numerous reports of trees and powerlines down across the New Orleans metro area.

Storm surge that rose sharply as the hurricane arrived will fall early Thursday as a strong cold front sweeps in and causes winds to be from the west.

Clouds will start to clear by sunrise with some gusty winds. Temperatures will be in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees.

The rest of Thursday will be mostly sunny, windy and cool day with highs near 69 degrees.
